Volvo clearly has more than its design game on. The new 2017 Volvo S90 T6 AWD Inscription isn't just a beauty to behold, it's sleekly hiding some surprising muscle underneath. Despreporno Show Host Jerry Reynolds reviewed the all-new S90 last fall and I've been itching to get behind the wheel ever since.

It delightfully lived up to my expectations.

I took the Swedish stunner for a spin at the F1 track at a recent media event for the . It did not fail to impress. For one, I really didn't expect the large near-luxury sedan to be so, well, performance-oriented. I'm talking 316-horses and 295 pound-feet of torque thanks to a 2.0L four-cylinder engine that is both supercharged and turbocharged. This makes for some great acceleration the all-wheel drive adds to the S90s excellent handling.

So do you really need all that in a sedan you might ask? After driving the S90, my answer is clearly yes.

There is also no looking the other way when you first come across the S90 in gorgeous Mussel Blue Metallic. (A $595 add-on paint job.)  It's a beautiful car and it wouldn't be a stretch to even call it downright sexy. The T6 features Volvo's new concave grille, LED headlights and  Thor's Hammer daytime running lights, along with an integrated rear spoiler that looks fantastic. Nineteen-inch 10-Spoke Silver Diamond Cut Alloy Wheels add to the enticing design package. The luxurious interior is equally impressive if not more so.  In fact, it took home the Best New Interior award at the Texas Auto Roundup.

It's seriously a modern sanctuary in there.

Once inside this haven, it's a good bet drivers and passengers alike will find it hard to leave those buttery-smooth Nappa Leather seats behind for the outside world.

The cabin is minimalist elegance at its best, featuring real wood inlays and aluminum trim along with a two-tone leather-wrapped steering wheel. You also can't miss the 9-inch touchscreen above the center console or the large Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system speaker on the dash.

The 2017 Volvo S90 T6 AWD Inscription starts from just over $57,000.

Overall, the price point seemed a little steep to Jerry when he reviewed the S90 ($66,365 as equipped) last year, say when comparing it the 2017 Genesis G80. The high price point may be one reason it's seeing slower sales compared to other large sedans in its class. So far, Volvo's sold 1,525 S90s this year, compared to the CT6's 3,382. The BMW 5-Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class outpace both models by quite a bit; 9,754 and 15,724 sold respectively.

But it's a gorgeous sedan that's definitely worth a look if a larger sedan is in your future.Click here to find a Certified Despreporno Volvo dealer in your area.
