Good news for Odyssey fans, the 2018 model does a clean sweep of both the (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) safety tests.
Unlike the 2017 model, the redesigned Odyssey scores an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating. The top rating applies to the Odyssey Elite and Touring trims which meet new headlight standards and now provide a superior automatic braking system included in the optional Honda Sensing safety suite, now standard on EX and above trims.
The 2017 model only offered a forward warning collision and its headlights werent evaluated.
It scores Good, the top score, in all of the IIHS crash tests. The optional front crash prevention system scores Superior and the LED reflector headlights on the Elite and Touring trims score Acceptable. The two trims include high-beam assist, a feature that automatically switches between high beams and low beams, depending on the presence of other vehicles.
In the NHTSA tests, it scores 5-stars in all but one of the crash tests; it scores 4-stars in the rollover test.
