2019 Honda Pilot Arrives With Tech, Safety and Style Updates

The arrives at Despreporno Certified Dealers today with quite a list of upgrades, including standard Honda Sensing on all trim levels as well as an available new hands-free tailgate. Plus, the 3-row family hauler sports a more aggressive look to boot along with transmission updates for smoother shifting.

Sportier Looks

As far as looks go, Hondaís 8-passenger SUV features more aggressive new styling in the front and back. Thereís a redesigned front grille and a new front bumper with larger, fully integrated fog light housings fully integrated into the bumper along with a new ďskidĒ garnish on the lower portion. The rear gets a new bumper too, chrome accents and new taillights with amber turn signals.

Available fog lights are now LED, the turn signal is thinner, and Pilot Elite models benefit from multi-element full LED headlights, including high beams. Additionally, Pilot Elite models receive power folding mirrors with automatic dimming.

Cabin Updates

Interior updates include new trim around the vents, available 3-way heated front seats, and wider fold-down armrests for the driver and front passenger. Additionally, second-row captainís chairs are now available on both Touring and Elite models (previously Elite only). Second-row retractable sunshades are available on EX-L, Touring, and Elite grades.


In the cabin, a redesigned instrument cluster features a new, larger thin-film transistor screen with a variety of user-selectable displays. The rear entertainment system gets a new ceiling-mounted 10.2-inch screen. Touring and Elite trims can also get a 4G LTE-based Wi-Fi hotspot.

Wireless charging is also available for the first time on the Elite and available as a dealer-installed accessory on EX, EX-L, and Touring trims. So, too, is hands-free power tailgate on the Pilot on Touring and Elite trims.

Also new for 2019: CabinControl on Pilot EX and above trims. Using an app, passengers can use their smartphones to control a range of Pilot features. CabinTalk is included on Pilot EX-L models with navigation and rear-seat entertainment, Touring and Elite trims.

Audio System Update

Hondaís also updated the Pilotís audio system with a new available 8-inch Display Audio system with a new volume knob. Standard in EX trims and above, Honda says the system is simpler to use.

It includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, and HondaLink content in Touring and Elite trims. The top-level models also get an updated 10-speaker 590-watt system with a subwoofer.


Honda says itís refined the Pilotís 9-speed automatic transmission, available on the Touring and Elite models, to make it shift smoother. (The lower trims are equipped with a 6-speed.) Honda also says the upgraded Idle Stop system provides quicker restarts and isnít as noticeable.

Honda Sensing and Blind Spot Monitoring

Hondaís Sensing safety suite now comes standard across the lineup. It includes Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBSô) with Forward Collision Warning; Road Departure Mitigation; Lane Keeping Assist System; and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).

Honda is also making blind spot information system standard on more trims. Previously available only on the Elite trim, itís now standard on EX, EX-L and Touring trims as well. Rear Cross Traffic Monitor has been expanded from the Touring and Elite trims to EX and EX-L.


The base model 2019 Pilot LX with standard front-wheel drive starts from $32,445 including destination and handling. The range tops out with the Pilot Elite for $49,015.
