One very big piece of news is that the Altima will be the beneficiary of the worldís first production-ready variable-compression turbo inline 4-cylinder.
The VC-Turbo engine, available on the front-wheel drive only SR and Platinum trims, will replace the previous-generation Altimaís 3.5-liter V6. The new engine delivers near V6-level performance with 4-cylinder fuel economy. The Altimaís standard 2.5-liter DOHC inline 4-cylinder direct-injection engine is new, too. Nissan says it offers more horsepower and torque, as well as improvements in noise, vibration, and harshness.

Technology-wise, the Altima will offer Nissan ProPILOT Assist autonomous driving technology standard on the SV, SL and Platinum grades. Also new for 2019, Rear Automatic Braking will also be brought into Nissanís existing Safety Shield suite of technologies, creating ďSafety Shield 360Ē.
