Want to place your coffee order from your car then head to the drive-thru? Some General Motors drivers can do that now thanks to a new in-vehicle platform GM calls Marketplace. It gives a new meaning to the phrase cars and coffee by allowing drivers to order food, look up gas stations
and even make reservations through the industry first service. How It Works

GM says Marketplace is the first of a new suite of personalization features it will roll out over the next year or so to nearly four million U.S. drivers.
It’s already being added to existing 2017 and 2018 model-year Chevy, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles with compatible infotainment systems. It requires the automaker’s 4G LTE but it doesn’t require a separate data plan. The rollout will continue with compatible new vehicles.
A “Shop” section is dedicated to offers specific to GM vehicles, for instance purchasing Wi-Fi data, discounts for an oil change or deals on GM accessories. Simple on-screen notifications can identify relevant offers.
GM says Marketplace is designed to be used while driving. It uses real-time interaction data, such as location, time of day and a driver’s established digital relationship with third-party merchants. But at the same time, GM says it designs it in-vehicle systems with strict safety guiding principles and that its systems minimize manual interaction so drivers can keep their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel.
Incidentally, the Avenir I am driving this week has this feature. Although you can operate the system while driving, I want to be on the record as saying do not do it.

- Dunkin’ Donuts: DD Perks members can preorder and pay onscreen for their favorite coffee and donut, at their preferred pickup location.
- Wingstop: You can re-order your favorites and pay ahead.
- TGI Fridays: Customers can schedule a reservation at the restaurant.
- Shell: Customers can locate the closest Shell to them, with the ability to pay in-dash coming soon.
- ExxonMobil: Customers can quickly locate Exxon and Mobil fuel stations with details of what they offer and route to get there.
- Priceline.com: Drivers can access to hundreds of thousands of hotels and exclusive hotel savings on the go.
- Parkopedia: Drivers can find, reserve and pay for parking.
- Applebees: Provides restaurant locations and ordering.
- IHOP: Provides secure on-dash ordering and location service capabilities.
delivery.com: Allows customers to order online from their favorite local restaurants, wine and spirits shops, grocery stores and laundry and dry-cleaning providers.
