Mercedes is rolling out the third-generation 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS.
The all-new CLS450 and CLS450 4MATIC four-door Coupe models debut with Mercedesí new design language which means new styling. sporty alternative to the E-Class also comes with a new more powerful engine and standard tech features that beckon the future.
New Sleeker, Cleaner Styling
The CLS is credited with started the four-door coupe niche, so thereís a lot riding on its redesign. The new body style goes back to its roots as it were, meaning itís sleeker without the overstyled sharp lines or creases you saw with the second-gen. The new CLS is more about arches, a low greenhouse, and frameless windows.
An extra-wide diamond grill sits low in the front, surrounded by redesigned LED headlamps and a high belt line. Revised three-dimensional taillamps are the big story in the back. It all rides on 19-inch light-alloy wheels.
Mercedes is really doing things right on the inside of its vehicles. The newer models really reflect a futuristic look. To that end, the CLS takes a book from the E-Class interior. Itís sleek, modern and that means a huge standard 12.3-inch high-resolution COMAND digital cockpit display. Itís optionally available with two 12.3-inch displays that merge to form a wide-screen cockpit beneath a shared, continuous glass cover. Ambient lighting includes newly illuminated air vents. Mercedes also says for the first time the CLS can seat five passengers, with the rear seat bench split 40/20/40.
New Find outwerful Engine with EQ Boost
Mercedes is popping a new in-line six-cylinder engine under the hood of both the CLS450 and CLS450 4MATIC. Itís equipped with an EQ Boost (integrated starter/generator). The six-cylinder delivers 362-horses and if you kick in the EQ it adds 21-horses. The integrated motor simply boosts the combustion engine for short periods of time.

Mercedes also says itís improved the CLSís camera and radar systems, so drivers have a better view of surrounding traffic. The CLS can also now make use of map and navigation data to calculate driving behavior.

Standard driving assistance systems including standard Active Brake Assist, ATTENTION ASSIST and the occupant protection system PRE-SAFEģ. Newly standard as well is PRE-SAFEģ Sound (prepares human hearing for the anticipated accident noise when there is a risk of a collision).
An optional Driver Assistance Package adds to that with Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Active Steering Assist, Active Speed Limit Assist, Active Brake Assist with cross-traffic function, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, PRE-SAFEģ PLUS and PRE-SAFEģ Impulse Side.
The 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS goes on sale by the Fall of 2018.
